Our commitment

Goose Pond Bookkeeping is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification, speech input, or who need reduced motion or higher contrast.

We treat accessibility as part of doing the work properly, not as an afterthought. Where something on this site gets in your way, we want to hear about it and fix it.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities. This website is intended to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

That wording is deliberate. The site has been built against the Level AA criteria and reviewed internally, but it has not yet been audited by an independent third party. We therefore describe it as partially conformant: most of the site meets the standard, and some content may not yet fully meet every criterion.

What we have done

• Semantic HTML structure with one h1 per page and a logical heading order.
• A visible "skip to main content" link as the first focusable element.
• Full keyboard operability, including the navigation menu and the FAQ accordion, with visible focus indicators throughout.
• Text and interface colour contrast checked against the 4.5:1 (normal text) and 3:1 (large text and UI components) thresholds.
• Interactive targets sized to at least 48 × 48 pixels.
• Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images; decorative elements hidden from assistive technology.
• Form fields with visible, persistent labels; required fields marked in text rather than by colour or placeholder alone; error messages linked to their field.
• No autoplaying audio or video, and no content that flashes.
• Animation reduced or removed when the operating system requests prefers-reduced-motion, and content never depends on an animation to become visible.
• Layout reflows to a 320 pixel viewport width without horizontal scrolling, and remains usable at 200% zoom.

Known limitations

We are still reviewing the following, and would rather name them than claim they are resolved:

• The site has not been formally tested with every combination of screen reader and browser. If you use an assistive technology we have not covered, please tell us what breaks.
• Web fonts are served by a third party (Google Fonts). If that service is unavailable, the site falls back to system fonts — readable, but visually different from the intended design.
• No independent accessibility audit has been carried out yet.

Assessment approach

Accessibility of this website was evaluated by self-assessment, carried out by the team that built it, using a combination of manual keyboard testing, browser inspection of contrast and structure, and review against the WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria.
